SkyDrive’s SD-05 eVTOL aircraft made its public debut at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The demonstration flight marked a major milestone for the future of advanced air mobility.
Remotely piloted, the SD-05 hovered approximately 15’ into the air and flew for four minutes - marking its first public outdoor demonstration.
Alongside the test flight, a full-scale SD-05 mockup is on display at the Expo’s Advanced Air Mobility Station through October 13, 2025. The aircraft seats two passengers and a pilot. Visitors can not only view, but also board the eVTOL with a reservation.
SkyDrive plans to launch commercial air taxi services in Japan later this year, connecting airports to select city centers.
It’s one thing to unveil next-gen technology. It’s another to watch the crowd’s reaction.
Here are a few photos that capture the magic of the moment.
I suggest you watch the SD-05’s public debut. This is the future of flight…
